Project Summary

HIFraser was awarded the task of assisting BAE with the mid-life upgrade of the ANZAC Class Frigate fleet.

Each ship upgrade included the supply and installation of two EVAC OnlineMax vacuum collection units, 4 new dual flush vacuum/emergency flush toilets and 4 new standard vacuum toilets.

HIFraser’s project scope also included the supply of a wet waste collection system and holding tank designed by our in-house Engineering team. In addition, two small macerators and one large macerator were installed to manage all food waste from the galley, ward room and scullery with waste collected by the new vacuum system and diverted to a holding tank.

As part of the upgrade, HIFraser also supplied Lorowerk pipework connecting the macerators to the food waste tank, and the toilets to the vacuum collection system.

The team at HIFraser were involved from the project inception including the specification, supply, installation, commissioning and set to work of the systems.

As well as the supply of all the new plant and equipment, HIFraser’s skilled service technicians also carried out an extensive survey and overhaul of all existing vacuum toilets and ancillaries, as well as a full chemical clean of the vacuum and grey water pipework. The ships two sewage treatment plants were also given a full overhaul and rebuild that included new discharge and macerator pumps, pipework and valves. This work ensured that the ship would be returned to the Commonwealth with a near new vacuum collection and sewage treatment system.
